I had a driver’s license in my name—some health records, my high school diploma.

Not good enough for the US Navy (or Army). Jack Zeiden was Dad’s accountant—he worked with his brother, Louis, who was a lawyer. They called their partnership Zeiden and Zieden. Odd!

I still have the documents (shown), which have my dad and mom certifying their citizenship, my birth certificate translated into English and my (unofficial) name change. I also have Jack Zeiden attesting to this personal data duly notarized.
